Oct. 31, 2014 -- A court has issued a quarantine order for a nurse in Maine who treated Ebola patients but resisted state officials' efforts to quarantine her.
The court order was sought by the state and requires Kaci Hickox to stay in her hometown of Fort Kent, avoid public transit and businesses, and stay at least three feet away from others when outdoors, The New York Times reported.
Judge Charles LaVerdiere, chief judge for the Maine District Courts, signed the quarantine order and also said a hearing on the quarantine will take place within 10 days to determine whether it violates Hickox's civil rights.
Hickox treated Ebola patients in West Africa, and Maine officials say she needs to be quarantined to protect public safety. Hickox has fought the quarantine, saying she has no symptoms of Ebola, The Times reported.
