Sept. 5, 2013 -- Chobani has voluntarily recalled some of its Greek yogurt cups and tubs affected by mold.
The yogurt cups in question were expanding and the lids bulging. The majority have already been removed from store shelves, according to a Chobani news release.
The containers are labeled with the code 16-012 and have expiration dates 9/11/2013 to 10/7/2013.
According to the Associated Press, the company was responding to customer complaints online. One person said her yogurt was "unnervingly fizzy" and another said it tasted like "wine."
The affected products include:
- Chobani 6-ounce cups
- Chobani 16-ounce tubs
- Chobani 32-ounce tubs
- Chobani 3.5-ounce cups
- Chobani Bite 3.5-ounce cups
- Chobani Flip 5.3-ounce containers
The recall affects less than 5% of production and is limited to products from Chobani’s Idaho facility.
Customers who bought cups labeled with the affected code date should throw them away and contact Chobani's Customer Loyalty Team at chobani.com/care to get replacements.
