April 7, 2014 -- Tyson Foods has voluntarily recalled more than 75,000 pounds of chicken nuggets sold at Sam’s Clubs nationwide because the nuggets may contain pieces of plastic, the company says.
According to the company, the plastic pieces have been found in a small number of packages.
Customers have complained about finding small pieces of plastic in 5-pound bags of fully cooked, frozen white meat nuggets. Smaller packages or products sold at other retailers are not affected by this recall.
The recalled products are:
- 5-pound bags of Tyson Fully Cooked White Meat Chicken Nuggets (item #16142-928). They have a “Best if Used By” date of Jan. 26, 2015, or Feb. 16, 2015. They also have the manufacturer codes 0264SDL0315 through 19 and 0474SDL0311 through 14.
- 20-pound bulk packs of fully cooked nugget-shaped chicken breast patty fritters sold to a single institution in Indiana and at the Tyson food company store in Arkansas. They have the case codes of 0264SDL0315 through 19 and 0474SDL0311 through 14.
Customers with the recalled nuggets should cut out the UPC and date code from the back of the bag and throw out the package. Mail the UPC and date code to Tyson Foods - CP631, P.O. Box 2020, Springdale, AR, 72765-9989, for a refund.
